Dr. Kaitlyn Ivanov

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Provider profile

Dr. Kaitlyn Ivanov is a doctor of physical therapy certified in the McKenzie Method. She grew up in the Seacoast area and is passionate about evaluating and diagnosing mechanical conditions within the body, specializing in the spine and extremities.

Provider training and background were checked against the clinic's published biography. Treatment recommendations require an individual examination.

Doctoral training with advanced mechanical assessment

Dr. Ivanov pursued her education at the University of Hartford, receiving a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in 2010 and continuing there for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013, graduating cum laude. She then worked for a certified McKenzie clinic in Connecticut, spending five years training under a Diplomate of the McKenzie Method.

She has pursued specialized training in the vestibular system for the evaluation and treatment of vertigo, concussion, and balance dysfunction, and more recently completed training in Graston Technique to better evaluate and treat soft-tissue conditions. She continues her education in manual therapy techniques and assessment strategies for orthopedic and sports injuries in order to offer patients the most current and effective methods.

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is an internationally recognized method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain, developed by New Zealand physiotherapist Robin McKenzie and used worldwide for more than 30 years. It follows a four-step process of assessment, classification, treatment, and prevention, and is built around active patient involvement and education.

Personal philosophy

Dr. Ivanov, along with her colleagues at Seacoast Spine & Sports Injuries, believes that health is a team effort requiring a unique combination of approaches to maintain. Treatment consists of evidence-based technique and empowering patients through education in order to maximize performance, prevent future injury, and promote overall wellness.

One-on-one patient care is one of the differences between conventional physical therapy and what patients receive at these clinics. She takes the time necessary to evaluate a condition and provide an individualized treatment plan to get patients back to all the things they love and more.

A life connected to the Seacoast

Growing up in the small town of Newmarket, Dr. Ivanov enjoyed the outdoor activities New Hampshire offers: kayaking on the Lamprey River, hiking the White Mountains, and camping. While living in Connecticut she picked up running and disc golf, and on weekends you may find her running for fun or at a local 5K.

She also practices yoga and Reiki, and incorporates that practice into her physical therapy treatment where appropriate to create a well-balanced program for her patients.
