Health science, chiropractic, and sports rehabilitation
Dr. Brown graduated cum laude from the University of Hartford in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Health Science. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Human Biology in 2010 from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 2012 with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, and completed her Master of Science in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2013.
During her training she worked with athletes from the University of Missouri, Missouri Baptist College, and Lindenwood University. She has also joined Dr. Lovelace in working with Kingswood High School, Prospect Mountain High School, and the Manchester Wolfpack semi-professional football team.
Personal philosophy
Bodies are not designed to be in pain. Pain is your body's signal that something is wrong. The best way to help a body reach optimum performance is to address not only the cause of the pain but the underlying issues producing it. Very commonly, muscle imbalance and weakness create the dysfunction that ultimately leads to pain.
Dr. Brown uses rehabilitative strengthening and corrective exercise to address the structural changes that may be causing pain. She combines that with passive modalities such as therapeutic ultrasound, cold laser therapy, electrical stimulation, instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization including Graston Technique, stretching, heat, and ice, alongside chiropractic adjustments, to return patients to pre-injury status and back to the activities they love stronger than ever.
Special interests
Dr. Brown has been an avid skier since the age of three. She was a member of the hip hop dance team at the University of Hartford, where she also taught ballet, and now teaches hip hop classes in York, Maine, helping young children explore their love of dance and movement while expanding their skills.
In her spare time she practices yoga and Pilates. Each of those disciplines places different demands on mobility, control, strength, and endurance, which is why a return plan should match the activity rather than stop at a pain score.
